Swing is performed by using vocal and music
arrangements that use rhythmic ‘riffs’ Developed in the 1930’s
after the 20’s Dixieland styles, swing gave the melody an added
depth. Band instrumentation changed in the 30’s the rhythm led
by a piano, bass, and drums. Swing was the king in New York
and throughout the country, from it came jive and boogie-woogie
and the jitterbug or bop, a great source of touch dancing that
disappeared in the 60’s and 70’s. Swing produced the ‘cats’ and
‘kittens’ or hep-cats fans in their millions. Now in America there
are jiving-swing dancing venues with members in their
20’s and 30’s learning the fun of partner dancing once more.
So put your glad rags on and come on in and join the fun, as the
song says, ‘It don’t mean a thing if it aint got that swing’.

Once again Robin and Geoff made our special occasion
(Joint 25th Silver<BR>Wedding anniversary / 50th birthday party ) even
more special with their<BR>superb performances, we were delighted
they were able to do a return visit. Our ballroom dancing classes
paid off and it was lovely to be able to practise all our steps to the
fabulous 'rat pack' numbers and - as one guest put it: 'real music -
music as it should be done!' (we quite agree). Forget disco - this is the
way to make an event swing! Even those who preferred not to dance told
us how much they were enjoying the opportunity to just sit and relax
listening to them, and so many said how excellent they were,
a very slick performance.
